Parent CODE OF CONDUCT
This Code of Conduct identifies the standard of behaviour which is expected of all SCMLA members and participants, including but not limited to players, guardians, parents, coaches, team managers, volunteers, trainers and administrators involved in SCMLA programs and Ontario Lacrosse Association (OLA) events.
St. Catharines Lacrosse is committed to providing an environment in which all individuals are treated with respect. Members and participants shall conduct themselves at all times in a manner that upholds the tradition and values of the club which include family, fairness, integrity and mutual respect.
SCMLA members and participants will adhere to the OLA Rules and Regulations and operational policies and procedures that govern OLA events and activities at all times.
Failure to comply with this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, including but not limited to, the loss or suspension of certain or all privileges connected with SCMLA, including the opportunity to participate in OLA activities and events, both present and future.
RESPECTFUL BEHAVIOUR:
Parents and guardians of St. Catharines Athletics players will:
Treat all players, coaches, officials, and other parents with respect and dignity.
Encourage my child to show respect towards teammates, opponents, coaches, officials, and volunteers.
Refrain from engaging in any form of verbal or physical abuse, including bullying, taunting, or using profane language.
Accept and respect the decisions made by coaches, officials, and administrators, even if I disagree with them (and always follow 24 hour rule)
Set a positive example by demonstrating good sportsmanship and fair play at all times.
Show appreciation and support for the efforts of all individuals involved in the club.
POSITIVE COMMUNICATION:
As a parent of a St. Catharines Athletic, I will:
Communicate with coaches and volunteers in a respectful and constructive manner.
Resolve conflicts or disagreements in a calm and respectful manner, avoiding public confrontations and always adhering to the ‘24 hour rule’.
(The 24 hour rule is a standard our club has put into play to prevent discussions regarding playing time, positions, tactics, or general decision making immediately following a game. All conversations or meetings can be held-calmly-after 24 hours have passed)
REPRESENTATION OF THE CLUB:
As a parent of a St. Catharines Athletic, I will:
Act as a positive ambassador for the club, promoting its values and principles.
Display good sportsmanship and respectful behaviour while attending games, practices, or any club-related events.
Adhere to the club's policies and guidelines.
Show appreciation for the efforts and dedication of volunteers and officials who contribute to the success of the club.
Refrain from consuming alcohol or using drugs at practices, games, tournaments, or other OLA events.
Understand that operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol is illegal and poses a significant risk to the safety of myself, my child, and others on the road.
Prioritize the safety of all participants by ensuring that I am in a sober and alert state when transporting my child to and from lacrosse practices, games, tournaments, or other OLA events, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
RESPONSIBLE USE OF TECHNOLOGY AND SOCIAL MEDIA:
As a parent of a St. Catharines Athletic, I will:
Encourage my child to use technology and social media responsibly.
Monitor my child's online activities related to the club, ensuring they adhere to the club's policies and guidelines.
Refrain from posting negative, derogatory, or inappropriate content related to the club, its players, coaches, or officials.
Address any instances of cyberbullying or inappropriate online behavior related to the club and notify the appropriate club officials.
Use of Alcohol and Drugs:
As a parent of a St. Catharines Athletic, I will:
Refrain from consuming alcohol or using drugs while attending games, practices, or unlicensed club events.
Not supply or encourage the use of alcohol or drugs to any players, coaches, or other parents associated with the club during games, practices, or unlicensed club events.
Set a positive example for my child by respecting the expectations of refraining from the use of drugs and alcohol.
By registering my child in the St. Catharines Minor Lacrosse Association, I acknowledge that I have read, understood, and agreed to comply with the St. Catharines Athletics Parent Code of Conduct.
